Afghan Refugee Volunteer Opportunities

  • Host Homes
    • EGC is building a cohort of 20 households who can host Afghan arrivals for up to 2-3 months. Some arrivals can get into apartments right away, but for many there will be a period of transition. Cohort members will have a half-day orientation, weekly check-in calls, and will participate in monthly virtual host gatherings for learning & reflection. Our focus is less on case management and more on learning from one another and developing healthy mindsets around hospitality and helping. Here’s our FAQ document Contact: Pastor Richard
  • Setting Up Apartments
    • Moving teams are needed to help set up apartments before arrivals move in including picking up furniture & household goods at a storage location, move it to a new place, set it up, clean the apartment, minor fixes/repairs, stock the fridge with groceries and make the place feeling homey. • Transportation
    • There is a need for people with cars who can pick people up at the airport, show arrivals around, give rides to doctor appointments, get some experience going to the supermarket, etc. This is a wonderful opportunity to not only meet this need but to build loving relationships with these families.  Contact: Pastor Richard
  • Donated Items
    • During Global Awareness Week and Christmas Services, Grace Chapel will be collecting needed items such as clothes, laptops, school supplies etc.  We will need people to staff a collection table as well as people to help sort & move donations from drop-off sites at churches in Lynn or Hingham. We also need people who can serve as coordinators for those teams. If you are interested, please contact Pastor Richard
