The State has decided to move the Haitian Migrants, being housed at the Bedford Plaza Hotel, to a facility in Lowell. They feel that these families can receive more state help at that location. This is sad for those of us who have been reaching out, serving, and building friendships with these dear folks!
God has used us to help them feel welcome. Their kids are in school, close to 40% now have jobs, some now have cars and they are attending English classes. There have been babies born, birthdays celebrated, and Haitian food being served several times, once to 400 at our Christmas Dinner. We have provided coats and clothes to help them get settled. Thank you to all who have reached out!
The move is scheduled between 11:00 and 1:00 on the following days:
- Tuesday, April 16
- Thursday, April 18
- Tuesday, April 23
Suitcases: The need right now is for large suitcases and/or plastic containers to gather belongings for transport. The State is providing U-Haul trucks and buses.
If you can help, please contact Richard Rhodes.
