Global Awareness Week 2025

Hope Rising Among the Nations

Lately it’s harder than ever to hold onto hope.

The state of our world can make it feel like we are living in dark times. There are divisions among nations and within the church. We hear of wars, famines, earthquakes and floods. People are on the move, seeking a better life for their children. Loneliness, anxiety and fear are pandemic. Injustice seems to prevail. It’s easy to feel despair and hopeless. Where is God?

Yet hope is rising.

Spoiler alert--God is working still, his wonders to perform! “From the rising of the sun to its setting, my name will be great among the nations” (Malachi 1:11a) declares the Lord. In the midst of the stories of conflict and suffering that dominate our news cycle, there is so much happening that gives us reason to hope!

Our ministry partners are working faithfully here in our region and around the world, serving the poor, the needy, and the marginalized. Their stories inform and encourage us; their courageous faith and bold witness inspire us. How can they be so hopeful in the midst of suffering, material poverty, lack of resources and political uncertainty? As we listen, learn, pray and encourage one another throughout the week, our hearts, minds and spirits experience more of God’s kingdom.

Global Awareness Week is a special week on the Grace Chapel calendar that can change our perspective on the world. Join us during our special GAW ministry gatherings. Meet a partner. Learn about their ministry and be encouraged.

And don’t just have hope – be the hope the world needs by getting involved in God’s kingdom work.

Hope is rising among the nations!

Special Offering

Al Ahli Arab Hospital in Gaza City, Gaza

As we continue to pray for a lasting and just peace for Israel and the Palestinian people, we followers of Christ must continue to see each person as our neighbor. Jesus’ command to love others extends even to those we may never meet but whose suffering cries out for Christian compassion. The people of Gaza face a severe humanitarian crisis. Two years of war have left families without steady access to food, clean water or medical care.

This year’s Global Awareness Week special offering is designated to bring humanitarian relief in the form of medical supplies, equipment and diesel fuel to run generators for Al Ahli Arab Hospital in Gaza City. Founded in 1882 by the Church of England, Ahli is the only Christian hospital in Gaza. It has served the people of Gaza for over 140 years as a beacon of hope and healing in times of peace as well as conflict, siege and war. From 1952 to 1981, the hospital was operated by the Southern Baptist Foreign Mission Board. Currently, it is operated by the Episcopal Diocese of Jerusalem. Ahli serves everyone with love, regardless of religion, ethnicity or ability to pay. Despite two missile strikes, Ahli continues to operate, receive casualties and serve on average, 30,000 people monthly.

The director of the hospital, a Palestinian American Christian, born and raised in Gaza, Dr. Suhaila Tarazi says:

“What sustains us is our Christian belief in serving one another with love and without discrimination, the remarkable resilience of our staff, and the immense support of our friends and partners around the world. At Ahli, we continue to serve with faith and hope, trusting that the Lord who called us to this ministry will sustain and guide us.

Your prayers and support remind us that the Body of Christ stands together, even across great distances.

We hold tightly to God’s promises, even as we walk through the valley of sorrow. By his mercy, we will continue to heal the wounds, dry the tears, and plant seeds of love and hope in one of the most troubled places in the world.

Our faith tells us, always after a dark night, there will be another shining tomorrow.”

We thank God that humanitarian aid is entering Gaza today following a new ceasefire that began on Oct. 10, 2025. “Real progress” is being made in delivering aid to Gaza, reports the U.N. as humanitarian agencies scale up their operations in the territory (NYTimes, 10-13-25). Continue to pray for peace and safety for aid workers and that the humanitarian supplies reach Alhi Hospital. Pray for Dr. Tarazi and her staff as they bring their medical skills and Jesus’ healing touch to bodies and spirits broken by war and hunger.

Thank you for prayerfully considering giving an above and beyond special offering gift for humanitarian supplies for Al Ahli Arab Hospital in Gaza City, Gaza.
