Jesus is in the Super Bowl.

This weekend, as millions of people sit down to watch the Super Bowl, they may be surprised to see someone unexpected – Jesus is in the Super Bowl!

A national campaign called “He Gets Us” is running two separate ads during the game, and Grace Chapel has joined in the He Gets Us partnership of churches.

He Gets Us

He Gets Us is a national campaign aiming to move beyond the mess of our current cultural climate to a place where all are invited to rediscover the love of Jesus. Christians, non-Christians, and everyone in-between.

He Gets Us is a diverse group of Jesus followers with a wide variety of faith journeys and lived experiences. They look at the biography of Jesus through a modern lens to find new relevance in often overlooked moments and themes from his life.

About He Gets Us

Our Partnership

The He Gets Us campaign runs themed ads about the different characteristics of Jesus and invites viewers to go to HeGetsUs.com to learn more about Jesus. These viewers, called “Explorers,” are connected with a local church in their area, so when anyone in a 20 mile radius reaches out through HeGetsUs.com they are put in contact with one of our pastors who engages in a conversation with them.

Super Bowl Sunday

He Gets Us will be showing two separate ads around the theme of “The Third Way,” focusing on how Jesus could have reacted to his circumstances with anger or avoidance. Instead, he countered conflict with God’s confounding love.

  • The first ad will run in the break between the 1st and 2nd quarter.
  • The second ad will run during the first break of the 4th quarter.

Prepare to have a conversation!

Every year the Super Bowl comes around, and everyone talks as much about the commercials as they do about the game... usually more so. With two ads about Jesus airing during this year's game, it's a perfect opportunity to start conversations about Jesus.

He Gets Us has put together some resources, including a conversation guide, with some tips and pointers for starting conversations. Download the conversation guide below.
