“But the Advocate, the Holy Spirit, whom the Father will send in my name, will teach you all things and will remind you of everything I have said to you. Peace I leave with you; my peace I give you. I do not give to you as the world gives. Do not let your hearts be troubled and do not be afraid.”John 14:26–27, NIV

I’ll never forget the uncertainty of the COVID-19 pandemic. For the first time, Grace Chapel’s elders made the difficult decision to close the church on Sundays. Our family joined online worship, listening to Pastor Bryan’s sermons from our living room. Schools were closed, offices were empty, and social gatherings stopped. According to the National Institutes of Health, children and adolescents experienced significant emotional distress during that season. One of our children needed counseling support, and it was through professional help, prayer, Scripture reading, and the encouragement of our church community that we experienced renewed hope.

That experience reminds me that Jesus is truly our Wonderful Counselor (Isaiah 9:6). In times of uncertainty—whether it’s the lingering effects of that pandemic, global instability, economic pressures, or personal challenges—He offers wisdom, comfort, and peace that no earthly counsel can match. His presence steadies us when headlines shake us. His Word speaks life when anxiety tries to silence hope.

Today, many still face unseen struggles—mental health challenges, caregiving burdens, job transitions, or family tensions. As we walk through them, may we remember that Jesus not only understands our pain, but walks beside us through it. His counsel is rooted in love, His timing is perfect, and His peace surpasses all understanding.

Prayer Prompt: Lord Jesus, our Wonderful Counselor, we thank You for being our steady guide in uncertain times. When fear and confusion rise, help us to turn first to You—for comfort, for truth, and for peace. We lift up all who are struggling with anxiety, loneliness, or change—especially children and families still healing from recent years. Surround them with Your love, wisdom, and strength. Teach us to listen for Your voice above the noise and to rest in the hope that You hold the future securely in Your hands. Amen.
