“Each of you should use whatever gift you have received to serve others, as faithful stewards of God’s grace in its various forms.” (1 Peter 4:10)
We are commissioned to be disciples of God’s love and salvation. We have all been given unique and specific gifts and talents to serve our Creator. We do this in a variety of ways, such as caring for God’s people through our heart and actions. We have the honor of showing God’s compassion and love by being the hands and feet of Christ. How we live out our faith and how we demonstrate acts of kindness, compassion, and service are ways we live out God’s purpose.
I have been greatly blessed to have faith brothers and sisters pray for me fervently and with persistence when discouragement and/or hard times set in. Through their zealous spirit, passionate words of affirmation, and active service of prayer, they have walked alongside me, holding me up when my legs would give out and carrying me the rest of the way. These acts of authentic compassion and genuine care are ways we fulfill our call to serve and be God’s hands and feet. Christ’s love and grace become reflected and exemplified through our service to others.
How have you embraced God’s call to utilize your unique gifts and talents?
Prayer Prompt: Dear Father, we lift up our eyes to the hills to find that our help comes from you. You watch over us and provide us with hope, faith, and love. Help us to not only love ourselves but to instill your love in others. Help us to see the continuous horizons of the ocean that are as vast as your mercy and grace. Help us to hike the rocky and steep mountains knowing that with each step, you are there to catch us and to pull us up. We openly and freely give you our breaths, our cries, and our hearts. Lord, take our hurts and mold them into something beautiful and unique so that your glory and majestic wonder will rise and shine as bright as the morning sun. In Jesus’ name we pray, Amen.
