2025 Senior Pastor Search Committee: 2026 March Prayer Prompts
Thanksgiving
“Give thanks in all circumstances; for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus for you." (I Thess 5:18 NIV)
(1) Thank God for how He has blessed the ministry of Grace Chapel over the last 75 years and for how He continues to bless us even now, in between senior pastors.
(2) Give thanks for our current Teaching Team as they instruct, inspire, and challenge us to grow in our relationship with God, live out our faith, and shine His light of love in a world that needs to know Him.
(3) Give thanks for the diverse gifts and perspectives represented on the search committee, and for each person’s generous willingness to serve with dedication and time.
(4) Sincere gratitude for the people of Grace – some of whom have been around for decades, some of whom have been here for a just few weeks and everyone in between.
Grace Chapel (Congregation, Leadership, Pastoral Staff & Volunteers)
(1) Pray that the Holy Spirit would deepen our affection for Christ and shape us into a people ready to receive all that God has prepared for our next season.
(2) Pray that the Lord would bring healing to those who carry wounds from past experiences and grant them the grace to release those hurts and walk forward in renewed trust and faith.
(3) Pray for a deepening faith within every member of our congregation, that wherever we are on the journey, we would be faithfully nurtured and shaped as devoted disciples of Jesus, continuing to grow ever more like Him.
(4) Pray that our board of elders and leadership team would be fully surrendered to the direction God has for Grace, open to His leading and willing to carry out His purposes with faith and unity, even if it is a different direction than we expect or desire.
(5) Pray that the Holy Spirit would stir the hearts of those in our congregation who have not yet stepped into financial giving or volunteer involvement, granting them a willing and joyful desire to contribute in both ways.
The Next Senior Pastor
(1) Pray for the candidate who, even now, may have no idea what our great God is calling them to in the coming months
(2) Pray for the family of the candidate, especially the spouse, that they would be in agreement with the next Senior Pastor call and feel lead towards Grace Chapel.
Pray for the children as they would likely be uprooted and could influence the family's acceptance of a call.
(3) Pray for the one God is calling to shepherd Grace, that their heart be tender to His Spirit and their mind anchored in His wisdom. May they lead with courage and faithfulness in the direction He desires, and may we have the grace to follow, even when His path is not our own.
Search Committee
(1) Pray that the Senior Pastor Search Committee (SPSC) would be led by the Holy Spirit, moving neither ahead of God nor behind Him, but faithfully following His timing and direction.
(2) Pray for clarity and discernment as the SPSC begins its review of candidates.
Help us to prioritize what the church would need in the next senior leader.
(3) Pray that the Holy Spirit would deepen our affection for Christ and shape us into a committee ready to receive all that God has prepared for our church’s next season.
(4) Pray that the Senior Pastor Search Committee would hear individually and collectively who God is calling us to lead our church in the days ahead.
(5) Pray that each member of the SPSC would have the courage to speak truth to one another with gentleness and love, especially in times of disagreement.
