“ In Joppa there was a disciple named Tabitha (in Greek her name is Dorcas); she was always doing good and helping the poor.  About that time she became sick and died, and her body was washed and placed in an upstairs room.  Peter went with them, and when he arrived he was taken upstairs to the room. All the widows stood around him, crying and showing him the robes and other clothing that Dorcas had made while she was still with them.” (Acts 9:36,37,39)

It's rare that anyone sees what their legacy really is. Peter brought Dorcas back to life and she could see the things she had done for the poor widows around her and how they treasured them. We probably won’t read the eulogies that are written about us, but it is worth pondering what we have done that will have a lasting impact on the people we have interacted with. There are a couple of things about Dorcas that strike me. First, she had poor people around her and second, she did something to address their needs with the resources she had. We all need poor people in our lives, either naturally or by intention. They help shine a light on how we have resources that can help them and shine the light of Christ in their lives.

Prayer Prompt:  Dear Lord, show me who to reach out to with your love and show me what you have placed in my hands that will meet their real needs. I want to be an instrument of your love.
