“The earth is the Lord’s, and everything in it, the world and all who live in it.”
Psalm 24:1
This verse summarizes Grace Chapel’s view of our stewardship -- faithful management -- of our resources. It is all God's. He entrusts to us the gifts and talents He gives us, the days He allows us and, yes, the material and financial resources He provides for us. He then calls us to use all of these resources faithfully, biblically, joyfully and generously:
Each of you should give what you have decided in your heart to give, not reluctantly or under compulsion, for God loves a cheerful giver. And God is able to bless you abundantly, so that in all things at all times, having all that you need, you will abound in every good work.
(2 Corinthians 9:7-8)
A faithful manager of resources makes a plan to allocate them carefully. Every believer in Christ should have a regular giving plan, a plan which indicates that we have sought God’s guidance as to how He desires us to manage our financial resources:
On the first day of every week, each one of you should set aside a sum of money in keeping with your income...
(1 Cor 16:2)
Our tithes and offerings are an important and meaningful part of our regular worship of the One who gave everything for us.
