Why did people come to Alpha?
Many people have attended some or all of the seminar. Here are a few of the comments from participants:
"I'm here because I met two Christian women from Grace Chapel who made me think about what is missing in my own life. I see them and listen to them and wonder, 'Wow, what have I been missing?' So here I am trying to figure out what I am missing. I was raised with no religion so I know nothing about the Bible or Christianity. I have a lot to learn and I'm so excited."
"I wanted to have faith in my life. To believe that things happen for reasons. I hope that through this course I can learn that I am not alone in difficult situations."
"I came because I wanted to give God one more chance . . . I've not been on speaking terms for some years now."
"I came because my husband took the fall course and I saw his life change dramatically. He became more loving and kind to me and I wanted to know why he had changed so much . . . "
"Alpha was the first time I heard a systematic presentation of the Christian faith."
Questions Allowed
The emphasis in the Alpha Course is placed on practical, nonjudgmental dialog with the goal to provide a forum for people to ask their questions. All questions are welcomed. We never met a question or a questioner we didn't like.
Here are some of the questions we will ponder:
- What is the meaning of life?
- How does one deal with guilt?
- What happens after death?
- How can one become a better person?
