Caring for families who are exploring or embracing foster care and adoption

The purpose of our fostering ministry is to “look after orphans and widows in their distress” (James 1:27) by caring for foster families and children and inspiring more people to become foster parents. We dream of a day when every child needing foster care within our geographical area has a safe, well-supported family to care for them. There are 9,000 children currently in Massachusetts’ foster system, and 2,800 of these children are still waiting for a home in which to be placed.

Working to Make a Difference

Grace Chapel partners with Fostering Hope (www.fosteringhope.org)  and DCF (Department of Children and Families) to provide support to foster families in our church and around the local area in a number of ways:

Awareness

Choosing dialogue instead of monologue, asking questions, and facilitating conversation in the context of meaningful relationships.

Care Teams

Our Foster Care Ministry Volunteers provide wrap around support for foster and adoptive families through babysitting, mentoring, rides, laundry, respite, meals and other practical family needs

Trauma Training

We provide, through Fostering Hope, trauma informed training for all families and volunteers.

Partnering with DCF and Network Churches

Making it theirs instead of ours as they address these four critical questions: Who am I? Where do I fit in? What difference can I make? And Who is God?

Prayer

We utilize the Grace Chapel Prayer Bulletin and Fostering Hope’s Prayer Team in praying for the Foster Care needs in Greater Boston

Ultimately, our goal is to see an increase in the number of foster and adoptive families in our region, and reducing the number of youths without homes.
