Special Offering for Ukraine

Published March 4, 2022

A full-scale invasion of Ukraine is underway. Over 1 million people, half of them children have fled into neighboring countries. The UN estimates that before the conflict concludes, some 4 million people may leave Ukraine looking for refuge.

Our ministry partners in Moldova, a small eastern European country which shares a border with Ukraine, have been responding to this full-scale crisis. They have transported people from the border to the safety of welcoming families. They have transformed Sunday School classrooms at Jesus Savior Church into dormitory living units for families. Moldovan children are playing with Ukrainian children in safety, offering some semblance of childhood to their new friends.

Grace Chapel will be collecting a special offering to help three of our existing, trusted partners welcome and care for Ukrainian refugees. Your giving will have an immediate impact providing housing, food, and some basic necessities for those who have fled war with only a suitcase in hand.

Partners this offering will support:

  • Jesus Savior Church, pastor Vitalie Fedula. Our long-term ministry partner and sister church in Chisinau, Moldova is providing accommodation to refugees through church families and in the church building itself. Sunday school rooms have been repurposed into simple dorm facilities. The church is providing shelter, personal hygiene supplies, 3 warm meals a day and safety as the Ukrainians refugees contemplate what’s next.
  • Invest Credit is our partner through PEER Servants and is led by Ghena Russu. Although they are a micro-finance ministry, Invest Credit has made a quick pivot to respond to the needs of Ukrainians refugees. They have offered transportation from the border to Chisinau, found homes and families for people to stay with, met some immediate needs for food, hygiene products and funds for housing.
  • World Relief, a global organization working in relief and development has partnered with the Integral Alliance, a network organization of 19 Christian agencies who respond to global crises. At this time, they are supporting two local church networks – one inside Western Ukraine in Lvov and another on the border in Romania. They have offered humanitarian assistance to those fleeing the conflict – essential supplies, personal hygiene items, shelter, food, medicine etc.

Would you please prayerfully consider giving to help meet the tremendous needs of this humanitarian crisis. This is a special offering above and beyond your regular giving to Grace.  And please know that 100% of what you give to this special offering will go to help meet  the needs of Ukrainians seeking refuge in this important time.
