Curious what it might look like to have less hurry in your life? Sound impossible? Check out an upcoming 5 week group we are hosting, which will mirror what our teens will be exploring to start off 2023. You can sign up to participate at a link below, or sign up to learn about possible Zoom or individual study options.
Based on the book by John Mark Cormer, "The Ruthless Elimination of Hurry", we'll be taking a deep dive with our students and their parents into the rhythm of our lives. Are we living "full" lives or lives just filled with lots of stuff? Our kids know a lot about performing and doing, but what do they know of being, resting, and their purpose? Dallas Willard was quoted saying: “Ruthlessly eliminate hurry from your life. Hurry is the great enemy of the spiritual life.”
Too often we treat the symptoms of toxicity in our modern world instead of trying to pinpoint the cause. A growing number of voices are pointing at hurry, or busyness, as a root of much evil and ultimately separating from God. What does it look like to stay emotionally healthy and spiritually alive in the chaos of the modern world and live a full life? Our weekly themes will be on: Hurry Sickness, Silence & Solitude, Sabbath, Simplicity, and Slowing.PARENTS - It's one thing to talk to students about this, but let's be honest. You don't need to be a teenager to struggle with pace, experience hurry sickness, to wrestle with the chaos life, work, and the world creates in us...or that we create in ourselves. We can be our own worst enemies. So, as your kids learn about this and are challenged with this, we wanted to support you in it as well.
