Ever try to complete that sentence? It is quite a challenge – where to begin? Is the definition ever complete? God has revealed much of Himself in the Bible, and Jesus came to reveal the God of the Bible. The goal of Joy Bible Study this year is to gain a better understanding of God, who He is, and what He does. We will look throughout Scripture at descriptions of God to find out who He is. As we study, we’ll discover that God is unfathomable and immeasurable, that He cannot be defined in human terms, nor can we create an exhaustive list of all His attributes.
We’ll also discover that God’s attributes and characteristics do not stand alone. Some of these attributes we - as human beings made in the image of God - possess (although far from perfect!). Others can only be possessed by God and are what define God as God. And we’ll discover that there are some things that are so big that we can’t fully grasp any of them because they defy our human understanding.
