Soul Care Spring Retreat
Saturday, March 25, 2017, 8:15 AM - 12:00 PM
Twice a year, we host what we call Soul Care Retreats. These are designed to help you slow down and find deep refreshment for your soul as you spend time in God's presence through fellowship, guided learning, solitude, reflection, and prayer.
Radiance: Finding Light in the Darkness of Lent
Lent typically comes to us in darkness. The days are still short. The sun rises late and sets early, and we long for spring. But Lent points us toward the lengthening of days.
Lent is also associated with a dark season in the life of Jesus. We look with him toward the journey to Jerusalem. The season begins with Ash Wednesday, reminding us that we came from dust and to dust we will return, and ends at the cross when “darkness came over all the land.” (Matthew 27:45)
We are not big fans of darkness. It feels dangerous. Foreboding. Vulnerable. We are not able to see clearly—forms are shrouded, there is a sense of desolation, and it can seem that we are all alone.
At this Soul Care retreat, we will learn that God does some of His greatest work in darkness and we’ll find that there is light even in the darkness of Lent. Whatever season of the soul you are experiencing, you will find space to be with God and to listen and learn what He has been doing over these past months.
Pastors Judy Pierce, Doug Whallon, and Debbie & Jim Ennis will lead our morning.
There is no charge for this event, but a donation basket will be available for those who wish to contribute. Bring your Bible, a notebook, pen, and a hungry heart, and dress comfortably.
Registration is not required but very much appreciated, as it will help us plan for your attendance.
