About Dana

Dana Baker is the Multicultural Ministries Coordinator at Grace Chapel.  She has served on the pastoral staff since October of 2000 in both urban and multicultural ministries.  In September of 2005, Dana was asked to lead a new multicultural church initiative which seeks to intentionally respond to the growing multicultural population of Grace Chapel and the region.  Throughout the pages of scripture, from Genesis to Revelation, we encounter a God whose heart embraces people from every nation, tribe and tongue on earth.  And the same God whose heart beats for the whole world beats passionately for oneness.  Dana’s desire is to help others unearth the hidden treasures that exist within each culture and make them available to the entire body of Christ, so that we might all truly benefit from coming together as one, and in so doing, showing the world a kind of unity that they long to see.

Raised in Oklahoma, Dana graduated from Rice University in Houston, Texas with a degree in architecture.  Prior to joining the staff at Grace Chapel, Dana practiced architecture for twenty years before feeling called to vocational ministry.  She also volunteered as a lay leader for many years in a wide variety of urban ministries in the city of Boston, such as Christians for Urban Justice and Habitat for Humanity.  She is presently pursuing a Masters of Divinity degree from the Center for Urban Ministerial Education, the Boston campus of Gordon-Conwell Theological Seminary.

Dana resides in Medford with her husband Ron, their two children, Tim (16) and Melissa (13); their golden lab, Bailey and their two cats, Muffin and Cadbury.  Their favorite activity as a family is the time that they spend at Ocean Park in Maine each summer, where reading, games on the beach and even an occasional swim in the frigid Maine waters provide an important opportunity for rest and relaxation, family and friends.
