About Richard
Richard Rhodes is the Pastor of Outreach at Grace Chapel and has been on staff since 1988. In this role, he holds the overall responsibility for Global, Regional and Local outreach along with Multicultural Ministry led by Dana Baker. Children's Ministry led by Barry O'Brien and Barbara Burrill is another component of Richard's Outreach Team. Richard also serves as a member of our Staff Leadership Team. His passion is local outreach and he especially loves working with those who feel “spiritually disenfranchised,” those who have questions about the faith, or those who have some spiritual hunger but do not know where to turn.
Prior to coming to Grace Chapel, Richard worked for five years at the University of North Carolina, Chapel Hill on the staff of InterVarsity Christian Fellowship. Following that ministry experience, Richard attended Gordon Conwell Theological Seminary and graduated with a Masters of Divinity in 1989. Richard, initially, held the position of Evangelism & Discipleship where he spearheaded the birth of the Small Group Ministry and oversaw Adult Development along with various evangelism programs. His focus then transitioned to become focused entirely in the area of Local Outreach. Recently he took over the role of Pastor of Outreach, overseeing the all of outreach at Grace Chapel. Richard’s undergraduate degree comes from Wake Forest University.
Richard is married to Dori and together they have three children, Haley (13), Andrew (10), and Ryan (10). The Rhodes family lives in Bedford. Richard’s favorite activity is doing just about anything with his family.
